How did Grand hotel Minerva come about?
Grand Hotel Minerva is the oldest hotel in Florence - it has welcomed travelers from all over the world since the 1800s! The hotel was acquired by our family in the early 90s with the idea of giving new life to a place that could offer a truly unique cultural experience.
What is The mission of grand hotel minerva?
To grant every one of our guests an authentic luxury Florentine experience. Specifically, in Florence - one of the most marvelous art cities in the world - this means creating a unique art journey that starts the moment you wake up in a room with original frescoes, Italian crafted furniture or authentic design pieces and art, continues while you sit in an authentic Carlo Scarpa chair at breakfast, and then explodes as you walk around our city.
what does a perfect day look like at grand hotel minerva?
The first thing you see upon waking are original frescoes and authentic Italian craftmanship and design from the 1950s. Step onto your balcony and enjoy a cup of coffee taking in the wonderful views of the cathedral of Santa Maria Novella, the Duomo, and the Florentine skyline.
Head down to breakfast and indulge in our pastry-chef’s freshly baked creations, surrounded by Italian art. Fueled by espresso, it’s time to hit the city.
Wander around the narrow alleys shopping high couture and local artisans, admiring the hand made leather goods and local jewelry.
Return to the hotel to enjoy a cocktail on our rooftop terrace. Choose from one of our bartenders’ signature creations, made with the legendary liquors from Officina Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella. Go for a refreshing swim - it’s hard to believe you are on a rooftop in Florence, surrounded by red bricks, cathedrals and ancient towers.
Head down for dinner at our al fresco restaurant on the Piazza and sip a glass of Chianti while the sun sets over Florence and the sky turns orange and pink. You are ready for another magical night at Grand Hotel Minerva.

The Medici Mule:
One of this summer’s favorites, the Medici mule: with Liquore Mediceo from Officina Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella, lime and ginger beer. You will have to visit Florence to try it - the Liquore Mediceo is a requirement!
